Please contact the Welfare Committee Chairs, Soon Soog Hyun at soonsoodaisy@gmail.com if you would like to join us in some of the activities and/or if you would like to become more familiar with the BIWA's welfare work.
The Busan International Women's Association raises money to support those in the local Korean community who are in need. Each month, BIWA donates funds to charitable organization such as Love Field elderly, Bitdulae study room Maesil Children's Home, various soup kitchens and several individuals.
BIWA's two main fundraisers are a Christmas Bazaar and a Spring Event. Additional money is raised through membership fees, luncheon attendance, donations and raffle ticket purchases.
Every second Tuesday of the month from 11:30am to 1:00pm, the Welfare Committee and other BIWA members volunteer at the Haeundae Soup Kitchen.
We distribute the utensils and serve guests their lunch which other volunteers have so graciously prepared. After the meal service, we help pack up the tables and chairs whilst other volunteers wash the dishes. We are asked to take an apron and gloves. After the guests are done eating and the majority of the area is cleaned, BIWA ladies are always welcome to join the other volunteers for lunch.
In addition to leaving with a good feeling about being helpful, BIWA ladies also have a good time socializing with one another.
